not yet landfill
So I am now into the twenties in the number of plastic bag bags made. Is this bizarre, creative, useful, a waste of time, what? The girls seem to like them, have sold a few, and hope the grans to grans group can use some more. But soon it's time to start the Christmas projects, and the list of family members grows. No complaints there, the new family members are all great. Maybe major sock production this year.
Have now incorporated buttons into the bags, a major raid on the old button box. There are really a lot of weird buttons in that box. It's a mystery to me what sort of clothing these strange buttons were originally used on. One or two really fine buttons, most boring, a few downright goofy. The button-bag is working well, though.
Other recycling thoughts --- the onion bag dish scrubbers. These are great. And easy. Two or three of the small mesh onion bags, fold them neatly into a rectangle, sew with a zig zag stitch, and voila! A dish scrubber that lasts at least six months, or until it disappears into the compost bucket or something.
And the sock blanket, the coffee bag rug, the other rugs --- if you can crochet it, needlepoint it, knit it, don't throw it away.
